Derek S. Green, former Councilmember At-Large, discusses his mayoral campaign including his vision for Philadelphia, public safety, criminal justice reform and holding politicians accountable. Green believes that Philadelphians should not have to choose between important issues such as public safety and criminal justice reform, reducing taxes and providing city services, or new development and affordable housing.
As a Councilmember At-Large, Green refused to make these tough choices and instead authored the Green Plan, which lowered taxes for small businesses and residents to their lowest levels in decades, while also increasing funding for more police officers and public safety.
Many candidates talk about these issues, but as a Councilmember, Green actually helped make them happen. He's confident that as the future Mayor of Philadelphia, he can take these efforts to a whole new level and give Philadelphians the city they expect and deserve.
